Activities and Rides
$5 Farm Visit Visit goats, ducks, chickens, pigs, sheep, bunnies and more goats during your farm visit. Meet the cows. Also stop by to see our giant African Sulcatta Tortoise, guinea fowl, geese and peacocks. Our very friendly animals are a pleasure to visit. Many of our animals were born right on the farm and all of them live here full time. We have different breeds of goats, pot bellied pigs and various breeds of hogs, and a great variety that your family can get to know and watch grow. Purchase the Farm Visit for all visitors in your party over the age of 2 years old that want to enter the petting area (children ages 2 and under are free to enter with a paid adult. Goat milking at 10AM and Noon each Saturday and Sunday SEPTEMBER-DECEMBER.
$5 Wagon Ride Enjoy a tour of the whole farm by taking a ride on our Wagon. Pulled by TRACTOR this ride gives the whole family an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and see the nooks and crannies of the farm. Suitable for all ages and sizes. Children under 2 ride free with adult.
$10 Farm Train Super cute FARM TRAIN with three barrel cars...pig, horse and cow! This is great for our youngest friends from toddlers on up to whenever they think they are too old for it! Adults may accompany children 2 and under at no extra charge.
$5-$10 Farm Crafts Ever changing rotation of fabulous and fun farm crafts. Horseshoe decorating, sand art, wood crafting, leather stamping! Changes seasonally, always fun!
$5 Giant Slide! Best for ages 4 and up, this fabulously fun slide is an adventure. Wristband is good for all day, so go and go and go and go!
$5 Straw Bale Maze Explore this adventure over and over again! The $7 includes a full day Wristband to play the day away in the maze.
Horse & Pony Rides
$10 Pony Carousel. Enjoy a traditional pony ride under our red canopy! This is perfect for children that are over 1 year old and able to sit independently up to 80 pounds. It is a seat belted ride on a traditional pony carousel.
$10 Pony Experience. Our newest pony ride takes your more adventurous little one around a longer track wearing a cowboy hat helmet! Photo option available!
$15 Arena Horseback Ride. This is a full size horse ride for children and adults ages 4 and up to 225 pounds. This is a hand led horse ride in our round arena that is great for bigger kids who do not need the seatbelt!
$25 Farm Walk Horseback Ride. This is a hand led horse ride around the farm. It is a bigger adventure for our more confident children age 5 and up all the way to less experienced adults who weigh less than 225 pounds. This is about a 15-20 minute ride.
The Range at Gilchrist Farm
$15 Archery Learn to shoot archery or practice what you already know! Our safely run range gives you the chance to try your hand! We provide all of the equipment. Ages 7 and older.
$15 Axe Throwing Try your hand at this traditional sport! Hurl axes at wooden targets to test your accuracy and strength. So.Much.Fun. Great for adults and children strong enough to throw! Ages 10 and older.
$25 Archery/Axe Throwing COMBO-The best of both worlds! A session of archery and a session of axe throwing!
Gilchrist Farm Mining Company
Adventure back in time to The Gilchrist Farm Mining Company to try your hand at prospecting for gems, minerals, fossils and FUN!!!! Enter history to discover gems like amethyst, quartz, pyrite, and maybe even find fossils or an arrowhead! Each bag of mining rough contains a wonderful mix of gems and fun! Sift, sort and marvel at your discovery!
Or, strike it rich with an authentic gold panning experience! Pan for gold, sift through the sand, and take home a vile with some real gold flakes!
The Pioneer Arts are alive at the Gilchrist Farm Mining Company. Try hand dipping candles, spinning wool and more!

Old Fashioned Candle Dipping
Visit our craft area to make your own candle! Hand dipping candles takes place during all festivals and during our Farm Visits each Saturday and Sunday from 9AM-2PM. $7.
Wool Spinning $5-$25
Spin wool, buy a spindle, make a project!Check out the Farm Animal Visit to meet the lambs and sheep-the source of the wool. Then head over to the craft area to see a demonstration on how to spin wool into yarn! Touch the wool, see the spinning wheel, take a class! We have classes available for learning the full craft of wool spinning-from sheep to spindle! See our classes here or check in at info@gilchristfarm.com to request a private session or session for your troop or group. Pricing from FREE (Wool Spinning Demonstrations), to $15 for a “make and take” session to $35 for a full class. Wool Spinning available select weekends.
Pioneer Doll or Action Figure Making
Using fabric scraps just like they used to-hand craft an old fashioned toy to take home. Make skirts or legs, plain or fancy. Learn the art of using what you have to make what you want! $7
The Butterfly Encounter -Seasonal (CLOSED FOR THE SEASON-BACK IN 2025)

Walk through a tent of beautiful flowers hosting live butterflies flying all around you. Hold some nectar on a sponge to attract a butterfly to land near you!
Enjoy these amazing pollinators while learning about what they do for farms and flowers! Throughout the duration of the Butterfly Encounter, we will host different species including Painted Ladies, Monarchs, Cabbage Whites and more.
Caterpillar and lifecycle kits, host plants and seeds will be available for sale, as well as habitats. The Butterfly Encounter opens at Gilchrist Farm Mother’s Day weekend Saturday May 13 and runs through Father’s Day June 18th.
The Butterfly Encounter is available to visit during Farm Visits 9AM-2PM on Saturdays and Sundays.
