Spring Farm Camp 2024
March 25-29 and April 1-5
$410 per week ages 5-11, CIT program for 12-16 $400. Camp hours are 8AM-2PM with extended care available daily until 6PM (extended day is $25/day, or $100 week additional). Camp is designed for ages 5-11 and the Counselor in Training Program is geared for partipants age 12-16. The CIT program includes a leadership component, a more advanced riding program and specialized activites like forging, leather work and mounted archery appropriate for teens.
Gilchrist Farm Spring Camp Includes:
Horse care, grooming, riding and cart driving. Learn how to groom, tack up, and ride horses or enhance your current riding expertise by trying something new. Archery and mounted archery! Intermediate and Advanced Horsemanship available for students who already ride.
Milk goats, gather eggs, pet pigs and bunnies, feed the ducks and tortoise, enjoy the horses and take the mini mule for a walk! Watch eggs hatch and learn to care for chicks! Spring time babies should be abundant during camp—-cuddle and enjoy the best of Spring!
Country Arts & Crafts galore! Soap and candle making, leather working, rag doll making, and wood working. Our new wool fiber program kicks off with Spring Camp!
GAMES! Milk jug bowling, horse shoes, corn hole, water balloon battles, tug o war, gunny sack races, and more!
Spring time weather gives us nature walk opportunities! And of course….the Giant Slide!
Typical schedule:
8:00 -10:00 Horse care, grooming, safety, games, fun and lots of riding! Riding students are assessed and placed into appropriate groups for their skill level. More advanced riders are welcome, first time riders are welcome! Archery and mounted archery.
10:00-12:00 (Snacks) Goat milking, petting zoo, egg gathering, animal care and fun with animals! Holding chicks, brushing pigs, learning about life on the farm, trying out new adventures!
12:00-2:00 Lunch, gardening, games, arts & crafts! Nature hike, obstacle course, team building, snow cones and more.
What to wear and bring:
Always arrive in long pants for riding and closed toed shoes or boots. On cool days, bring layers. On warm days, bring a change. Shorts are fine for the afternoon, but the shoes still need to be closed toe.
Sun hat, sunscreen, layers when chilly and refillable water bottle.
Bring lunch or buy pizza lunch ($7 includes slice of pizza, drink and fruit).
We provide helmets for horseback riding. Campers are welcome to bring their own EQUESTRIAN helmets (bike helmets aren’t accepted).
No cell phones allowed during camp (reception isn’t great anyway and the chance of a phone getting damaged are HIGH). Phones brought to camp must be stored in bags and may only be checked during lunch time. This includes CITs. No electronics.
